Wish Upon A Wedding, a nonprofit organization that creates dream come true weddings for terminally-ill couples. They believe that no one should be denied a chance to marry their soul-mate!

Liz Guthrie, Founder of Wish Upon a Wedding, couldn’t have said it better herself, “Dedicated to providing weddings and vow renewal celebrations for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, we grant one of the most profound moments in a couple’s lifetime. What better way to celebrate life than being surrounded by one’s family and loved ones, while creating memories for those family and loved ones that will be cherished for years to come? By bringing these ceremonies to individuals faced with terminal illnesses, we believe that other people facing similar situations will find their own sense of strength and hope.”

Allender and Eric wed June 2009 at the Athens State Botanical Gardens Conservatory. The couple had a cocktail buffet with carved top round beef topped with creamy horseradish sauce and our angel biscuits and marinated chicken with peach salsa, grilled asparagus, rosti potatoes, moser salad with sliced strawberries and creamed spinach topped with Roma tomatoes. The menu also featured a Southern station with pulled pork, mac & cheese, country green beans, squash casserole, old fashioned tomato bread pudding.

Allender and Eric had a Swiss dot design on their three-tier cake with Spanish lemon and white velvet raspberry. To continue their Southern flair, the groom’s cake was homemade banana pudding!

Gardenia Floral Design provided the flowers for the event.

Ann Dial and Will came to Epting Events with a wedding deadline of just 8 weeks. Were we able to do it? Of course! When Ann Dial McMillan got engaged to Will Sims, she decided she didn’t want a lengthy engagement, so she called her best friend and Epting Events coordinator Mimi Bittick to get the job done. It was perfect for Mimi because she was able to play the best friend role, matron of honor and wedding planner.

The couple married at a private home on Lake Martin, Alabama. The theme revolved around bright, vibrant colors. The table cloths were hot pink, hemstitch. Grace’s Flowers in Alabama perfectly conveyed the couple’s look.

Mimi chose Calypso bridesmaids dresses, and got extremely lucky when she found the last three dresses in their sizes in Miami.

The menu for the evening was nothing short of Southern fair, including a delicious Wickles Pickles appetizer (the groom is the founder of Wickles Pickles), smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, grilled jerk chicken, old fashioned tomato pudding, macaroni and cheese and more.

What is the proper etiquette for and guest on an invitation? Before you answer this question, think about all the weddings you have been to and brought a date. Now, think about how potentially awkward those weddings would have been if you were flying solo, especially if it’s a wedding where you don’t know the bride and groom’s friends and families extremely well.

You might also think it’s okay to add and guest only to your married friends. Be forewarned! This will likely cause drama between your unmarried and long-term dating friend.

If you don’t do it, you will have people bring their significant other anyway, and throw off your numbers and seating.

Long story short, always put and guest on your invitations; whether you want to or not, and remember people will feel more comfortable and in turn have more fun! The only exception to this rule is, if they are under 18 years old.

Check out the Lettered Olive for great invitation styles!
