Here at Epting Events, we are very busy with preparing for spring wedding season. This year, brides are really showcasing their personalities with fun color palettes, unique design options, and much more. Take a look at what we think are the top 10 Southern wedding trends of 2013!

Mint Green
This mint green trend is huge in 2013 weddings!  It’s refreshing, delicate, and blends well with almost any other color.  We’re really into this mint, gold and blush palette for a shabby chic look.

Lounge Areas
Having a place for your guests to lounge around in between dances is a great idea and a growing trend for 2013.  They can be incorporated with indoor, outdoor and tent receptions. Not only are lounges a fun way to enhance your wedding’s theme, but they also give your guests a place to relax away from the dance floor and guest tables.

Mini Menu Items
Having a dessert or an hors d’oeuvre buffet with tons of mini-sized favorites is a fun way to present food to your guests.  Plus they look so darn adorable!
Iron Chandeliers
Lighting is always the first step towards creating a unique look for an event, and iron chandeliers can make a huge statement. They provide a rustic vibe, and are sturdy enough to weather outdoor weddings. Hang large ones from your reception tent, or several small ones from a large oak tree.

Going Green
We already talked about the color green, so this trend focuses on being eco-friendly! As more people incorporate green efforts into their daily lives, we see couples making these efforts on their wedding day. Some easy green options include sourcing food and flowers locally, utilizing party rental companies and vintage or thrift attire and décor.
Peony Flower
In East Asian culture, the peony represents prosperity and honor, which are two blessings that all couples wish for as they dream of their future together. They are perfect for bold bouquets and centerpieces because of their large size and bright colors.
DIY
It takes some extra effort to put together DIY projects for your wedding, but you will appreciate each invitation, centerpiece, and wedding favor so much more if you do it yourself! And your guests will love the personal touches that only DIY projects can bring. With sites like Pinterest providing infinite inspiration, it’s easy to find the perfect projects for you.
Eye-Popping Cakes
We all know that the cake is the best part of a wedding, and they’re getting better. Brides are breaking away from the old (but still delicious) cupcake trend, and are showcasing incredible cake masterpieces. Look out for pops of color and fascinating textures like feathers and crystals.
Bark
Earthy elements go hand-in-hand with the eco-friendly trend. We continue to see bark-incorporation adding rustic charm to weddings. Use a large, round piece as a cake plateau, or make votives out of small cylinder pieces. You can even wrap vases in flexible pieces of bark, like birch, for a pastoral look.
Unique Reception Entertainment
Couples are trying harder to think of new ways for their wedding to be a night to remember. For music options, keep an eye out for dueling pianos, strolling mariachi bands, and live disc jockey mixing. Other entertainment options could include photobooths, caricature artists and outdoor games.

We can’t wait to see these trends come to life as our busy spring season kicks into high gear. Comment and tell us what trends you are looking to incorporate in your wedding. And of course, let us know of any trends we left out!

Easter can be very inspiring for your Spring Wedding – the pastel colors, egg cups, tulips, baskets, painted eggs, vintage inspired pieces, fresh grass and flowers. I love this time of year, and I’m happy to share this inspiration with you!

When you dreamed of your big day as a child, you probably didn’t have a calculator in hand adding up every magical detail and idea. Now you’re planning your wedding and while you want it to be perfect (we want it to be perfect for you!), you may need to compromise in some areas. Hopefully, this post will show you compromising isn’t all that bad and you can still have the best night of your life!

::Cocktail Hours::
While everyone loves a good drink, having guests go to the bar at the reception is perfectly acceptable. You are less likely to run out of alcohol by avoiding the cocktail hour, since once they are at the reception they will have the option of going to through the buffet or to the various stations. This will also reduce your labor costs because you don’t need to have separate bartenders or servers for this area.

::Passed Hors D’oeuvres::
There is no secret that these are expensive. When you think about someone having to prepare each item individual piece. Imagine making 500 bacon wrapped stuffed dates. Our Cocktail Buffet Menu gives you a pick-up station with hors d’oeuvresque type food and your main buffet and sometimes a carving station.

::The Band::
Don’t get me wrong I love a good band, but if it’s not in your budget don’t fret a DJ will do the trick of getting everyone crunk and no one will be the wiser.

::Overlays & Linens::
If you want more than just basic white linens, you can add an overlay. But with an overlay comes an extra price generally starting at $22.50/each. We recommend using a base linen that you like coordinating with your colors. Pintucks and Lamours are great options to add style and color to your event.

::Centerpieces::
You can incorporate some large floral arrangements on your buffet to add color. But consider doing alternative center pieces with old books, candles, lanterns, single flower vases. This will still add color and give your party a great look without the cost of grandiose arrangements.

::The Dinner::
Our Cocktail Buffet menus offers tons of options and can be modified to meet your taste buds. This also allows you to get away with only seating half of your guests, that’s right I said half! Now you don’t have to worry about seating cards or the dreaded seating arrangements; and if you’re ex-cousin’s twice removed step-father can’t sit with your best friend’s mother’s nephew, you don’t have to worry about it! Your guests will still have the option of eating three meats and lots of delish sides without the added price of a served entree or dinner buffet.

::The Bar::
If you like alcohol but don’t want to offer your guests all of your favorite liquors, you can do beer and wine with a specialty drink. Our beer and wine set-ups also include the soft drinks, water and sweet tea. This will suit everyone.

These simple little tricks will let you stick to your budget while having an awesome time, and no one will be the wiser!

This is my own personal take on TLC’s “What Not to Wear”, with a little mix of CMT’s “My Big Redneck Wedding”. Wow, I hope y’all can handle this post, and I promise I will go back to a more traditional blog post. (Please note, this is all in good fun.)

This is why we recommend bottles over kegs...

This wedding took place at the Redneck Olympics.

In case you can't see, there is a bride there.

Here comes the baby, oops I mean the bride

I'm honestly impressed by this one.

This is apparently modeled after the video game Zelda, I was hoping it was Peter Pan...

All jokes aside, we do enjoy a good themed party or wedding and have a huge warehouse full of props to make it happen. We have king and queen thrones, full knights of armor, Mardi Gras and beach themed props and tons more! We loving having fun and throwing parties, so let us know how we can help you!

Today’s post gives a complete new meaning to “Can’t go over it, can’t go under it, must go through it”. We all know we are huge fans of doing things uniquely, and this bride did just that! Katharine was determined to go over it, and with the help of her family and our floral design team she did!

The family constructed the bridge across the pool, and we decorated it to the max. Along with the bridge floral, the pool was accented with floating flower balls.

Guests were dropped off in the front of the house by shuttle buses, walked through the house to the sun porch and were greeted in the garden by a string quartet, then walked around the pool to be seated. The bride made her grand entrance across the pool to an intimate ceremony.

The moral of the story is never say never, and if you want to do it at you’re wedding we’ll make it happen!

One word: Yellow! We love these yellow floral arrangements. We did a wedding two weekends ago with yellow touches, like a multi-yellow checkered table cloth. These yellow floral pictures will just have to hold you over till then! Yellow is a great color palette for a wedding, and can be incorporated in some many different and unique ways.

There are tons of great ways to decorate a pool for a wedding, including some great budget friendly ways. You can have flower balls made to float around the pool, or you can have loose petals. Have your monogram made out of flowers and have it in the pool. Or you can have a floor put over the pool, and have a clear floor for your reception. There is always the possibility of trashing the dress, and jumping in the pool too… Unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures of that; although I’m sure I could find some on facebook!

Imagine… Chelsea Clinton called Epting Events to plan her wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, we would be thrilled! We would not change a thing about her Vera Wang wedding dress, and we’d definitely use the beaded crystals as inspiration for the reception. The reception would be classic with beaded chandeliers, white chivari chairs, gold mirrors and ice bars. The menu, of course, would consist of Southern favorites, and knock the socks off the Yankees!

South Beach Tents are a great way to add different lounge areas to your party; it allows guests, or the bride and the groom, to duck away and enjoy the party from a different setting. Inside the tents generally have a couch and a coffee table, ideal for relaxing. The tents come in a variety of colors and styles, and the accents can be personalized to match your event.

This past week, three of our interns had fun creating these hanging picture boards for the Hamilton wedding reception in Augusta. The bride, Natalie, forwarded us a few examples from magazines, and we did our best to recreate and modify these boards for the look and feel of her wedding!

What you will need:

– 10 ft. long Ivory ribbon (length of ribbon will vary on tent size)
– 9 x 9 Squares of Brown Mat Board
– 5 x 5 Pictures
– Rubber Cement
– VERY Tacky, Durable Glue
– Large Safety Pins (to connect the boards to the tent)

A few things: You will need a box cutter to cut the mat boards easily. We used the tacky glue to connect the mat boards to the ribbon, and we used the rubber cement to stick the pictures onto the boards.

Here is the final product! These picture boards add a personal touch to any event. Plus, they are quick and inexpensive to make. You can do as many or as few as needed.
