On August 1, Epting Events, along with Southern Living and The Southern Coterie Network, will be presenting The Southern C Summit, a one-day networking event and conference. The inaugural Southern C Summit was held on Jekyll Island in early May. This time around, they’re bringing the show to Athens, Georgia – a town known for its southern charm and personality.

This event, hosted at the Georgia Museum of Art and the Georgia Theatre, will unite the best of southern brands, bloggers, businesses, as well as an assortment of creative minds to collaborate, create, and innovate. The daytime events will consist of several panels, including Ashley Epting’s presentation titled “Real to Reel: Food, Film, and TV.” This panel blends together two of Ashley’s passions – throwing parties and the entertainment industry. For a sneak peek into what Ashley’s panel will discuss, check out the teaser trailer for “Black Tie and BBQ.” In addition to Ashley’s presentation, guest panelists include the creative forces of the Wier/Stewart ad agency in Augusta, The Broke Socialite’s Shameeka Ayers, The Love List’s Jess Graves, and Hanna Seabrook, the creative director of Southern Proper.

This event offers treats for the mind and for the stomach. A networking luncheon at the Georgia Museum of Art and an evening event, “Cocktails and Conversations,” at the Georgia Theatre are being coordinated and provided by the staff and kitchen at Epting Events. Additional lunch and dinner items are being brought in by local southern vendors, as well as Athens restaurants such as Pauley’s, The Branded Butcher, Pauley’s and The National. Bartenders will be on hand to create specialty cocktails with Cathead Vodka and Charred Oak Spirits’ bourbon. The event will conclude with a panel led by Southern Living’s Hunter Lewis, with Chefs Whitney Otawka and Peter Dale, and Greg Best, a partner and mixologist at Atlanta’s Holeman & Finch.

On January 19th the Georgia Museum of Art will be transformed into an incredible display of monochromatic splendor. From the walls and the table settings, to the food and decor, the vibrant Museum will revert into a chic canvas devoid of all color.

The serene museum space is primed for transformation.

The serene museum is primed for transformation.

Epting Events is assisting in the coordination of the Georgia Museum of Art’s Elegant Salute party, and time to ensure your attendance is running out! The biennial soirée is one of the University of Georgia’s most important (and lavish) fundraisers, with proceeds directly benefiting the Museum. This year’s theme is that of a classic Black and White formal event (with a surprising twist).

Aside from the incredibly unique atmosphere, your ticket will provide you with an exquisite 3-course served meal (with a vegetarian option) provided by Epting Events. Incorporating the party’s black and white theme, each course will be presented lacking color, but exploding with flavor. Following a fresh winter salad, the main course centers around a filet paired with unique, yet delicious, black and white vegetables. Dessert will be a one-of-a-kind white chocolate crème brûlée accentuated by flavored balsamic vinegar and black lava sea salt coupled with an almond shortbread.

Then, as dinner is finishing, a surprise will unfold, and a striking field of color will be revealed! Suddenly, the once subdued space will transform into full-spectrum celebration! An elaborate light show, along with a whimsical candy station and a far-out dance floor, will take over the unmarked space. With the Krush Girls DJ-ing into the night, this evening will be one you (and the GMOA janitorial staff) will soon not forget!

If the entire event is out of your price range, that’s okay! The Georgia Museum of Art is selling post-dinner Full Spectrum Disco tickets at a very affordable price. Attend dinner, attend the disco, or attend both! The choice is yours! But trust us, either way, you do not want to miss this!

Timeline:
Cocktail hour between 6:30 and 7:30
Dinner served at 8:00pm
Surprise at 9:00pm
Disco Starts at 9:30pm

It’s Saturday in Athens and you wake up with a smile on your face (reminiscent of a child’s on Christmas morning).  You dress for success, sportin’ your best red and black, and you look forward to that moment when you’re between the hedges.  Only one thing can truly make this day any better: The Perfect Tailgate.

However tomorrow is not just any game day, it’s the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP!  People, if your tailgate is not top notch, what will the rest of the SEC think of Bulldog fans??

Here’s a list of Dos and Don’ts to put your tailgate at the top of everyone’s list.

DO plan ahead!  A great tailgate doesn’t happen in a couple hours.  Figure out the logistics ahead of time

DON’T expect to find a great place to tailgate an hour before the game starts

DO provide plenty of food.  A great tailgate has many attendees.  If you’re not a top chef, or simply don’t feel like preparing a table of food for your tailgate, pick some up!  Harry’s Pig Shop has any and everything your heart could possibly desire for a successful tailgate. (Having the best BBQ in town don’t hurt either.)

DON’T go light on the dipping sauces.  I can’t tell you the disappointment I feel when I go to dip a chip and the salsa is gone.  Run out of fixings to put on my hot dog?  How. Dare. You.

DO decorate! This is a tailgate for crying out loud!  And not for just any game, but the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP! Decorate your food with red and black.  Decorate yourself in red and black. UGA themed cookies and brownies are the way to go.  Red and black table clothes, streamers, plates, and napkins?  YES!  It only amps up the team spirit!!

DON’T forget the tables and chairs.  Balancing a brew, a plate of grub, and playing corn hole all at once is just too hard.

Last but not least, DO celebrate the bulldogs biggest game in 20 years safely and appropriately.  Wear your red and black, wave those red pompoms, and drink a beer with your fellow Bulldog fans!

GO DAWGS!

King of Pops

King of Pops is a relatively new group, that makes extraordinary, very yummy and unique popsicles. The group is based in Atlanta, and is coming on strong all over the Southeast. We have worked with them on events, and naturally all the guests were raving about how wonderfully delicious they were. For the Athens townie, you may have seen their chocolate sea-salt popsicles or margarita ones for sale at Transmet and places alike.

Well last night, I met the Charleston branch. The Charleston Bridal Association hosted a networking event allowing the vendors to show off their goods. What better way for King of Pops to do that than a “Poptail”? They combined a blueberry, cranberry or raspberry, mint lemonade garnished with a lemon slice, fresh blueberries, some mint AND a popsicle in that flavor as a stirrer. My heart was instantly won over, and I am absolutely kicking myself for not getting a picture of their creation.

King of Pops uses seasonal ingredients for their tasty creations and also serves some flavors year-round. If you want to use them for your event, they can even create a custom concoction. The best part is… Epting Events can arrange all of this for you in Georgia, North and South Carolina!

Here are some of their flavors (There are over a 100!):
Arnold Palmer
Banana Puddin’
Chocolate Sea Salt
Coconut Lemongrass
Grapefruit Mint
Mexican Chocolate
Raspberry Lime
Strawberry Lemonade

If you’re dying to try one, (which if you’re not, you’re crazy) you can find them in local restaurants in Athens and Atlanta, for sale on the street in Folly Beach, SC and around Asheville, NC. Check out their website for their exact locations.

We can’t wait to see what they come up with next, and to have them at an event again soon! Stay tuned for a Real Wedding post with King of Pops working it!

Heather and Sam had a two year engagement, and for a DIY bride that means two years to find lots of inspiration and getting the creativity spinning. Heather and Sam had a vintage wedding with so many intricate details handmade by Heather. I love the way Heather asked her bridesmaids to be part of her big day. OnceWed has the DIY instructions here.

We love any wedding photographed by Our Labor of Love, and this one is no different. Below are some pictures from Heather’s DIYs to the ceremony. For more about Heather and Sam check out Southern Weddings Blog!

Well, there are several ways to go… traditionally, elegantly, with a bang,or totally wild!

I have been dying to show y’all a wedding at the Inn at Half Mile Farm in Highlands, North Carolina. The house and reception area is perfect for an outdoor, mountain wedding. Elizabeth and Taylor held the ceremony at the Highlands United Methodist Church, with the reception at the farm. The weather was a little unpleasant at first, but the sun came out just in time for their reception. Personally, I think the clear umbrellas added great creativity to the pictures, and you wouldn’t have had that on a perfectly sunny day. Our floral department, Bart Scott and Leigh Frazier designed a beautiful bouquet and reception centerpieces.

The Menu…

A Variety of Hummus
With a mixture of vegetables
Baked Vidalia Onion Soufflé
