Heather and Sam had a two year engagement, and for a DIY bride that means two years to find lots of inspiration and getting the creativity spinning. Heather and Sam had a vintage wedding with so many intricate details handmade by Heather. I love the way Heather asked her bridesmaids to be part of her big day. OnceWed has the DIY instructions here.

We love any wedding photographed by Our Labor of Love, and this one is no different. Below are some pictures from Heather’s DIYs to the ceremony. For more about Heather and Sam check out Southern Weddings Blog!

I have been dying to show y’all a wedding at the Inn at Half Mile Farm in Highlands, North Carolina. The house and reception area is perfect for an outdoor, mountain wedding. Elizabeth and Taylor held the ceremony at the Highlands United Methodist Church, with the reception at the farm. The weather was a little unpleasant at first, but the sun came out just in time for their reception. Personally, I think the clear umbrellas added great creativity to the pictures, and you wouldn’t have had that on a perfectly sunny day. Our floral department, Bart Scott and Leigh Frazier designed a beautiful bouquet and reception centerpieces.

Naturally last week when I said that I would have it up the next day, what I really meant was next week. When I first met Megan and Sean, I knew their wedding was going to be very detail oriented and perfect. I instantly became a fan of them both when I found out Sean proposed with a cupcake from her favorite bakery, and they wanted to serve cupcakes as their wedding cake with milk shots. They chose the Hill for their venue, and of course we did the catering. Their colors were navy and red with a touch of turquoise. We hung our bulb lighting to the center of the tent. Megan looks gorgeous in her pictures, and we’re so happy to share their wedding with you!

Nothing is more inspiring and motivating than watching the William and Kate wedding movie on my DVR to get me brainstorming about how I would plan their wedding. For the wedding, there are so many possibilities I think I’d be 50 by the time I got through them all! However, I do have a fabulous idea for the bridal luncheon and tea. When I studied abroad in Oxford, I unfortunately didn’t see William but I did visit Windsor Castle and it was absolutely breathtaking.

This is the one good picture I've ever taken!

I would plan for the luncheon to be out in the garden by the pond for the Queen, Kate and all her bridesmaids, and of course the MOB. The garden is full of multicolored flowers, so the possibilities are endless and it does not need much. I have to imagine that the wedding receptions will be rather stuffy (I know this because I’m always hanging out with royalty…), so this would be the perfect opportunity for Kate to get away and semi-relax before the whole world is seriously watching her every move.

For the tables I would do long, plank tables, with vintage doily table runners with mint julep cups with large, silver vases mixed in. It would only be appropriate to use the Johnson Brothers pink, castle china.

To stick with the simple, relaxing atmosphere I would keep the menu light.

Beverage Station

Mint Strawberry Lemonade

Deviled Eggs with Prosciutto

Watermelon & Feta Salsa with Homemade Tortilla Chips

Broccoli Salad

After-Lunch Tea

Earl Grey Tea

Chocolate Sponge Cake

Assorted Petit Fours

And of course, SCONES!

I am looking forward to tomorrow, and hope I can sleep tonight. I wish William + Kate many years of happiness and love!

Apryl and Stan got married September 25, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church and hosted their reception at the State Botanical Gardens’ Conservatory. The Conservatory was decorated in champagne with burgundy accents, with lanterns hanging throughout the reception. The couple chose an ice bar with a drink luge serving white cosmopolitans, down and dirty martinis and extra dry martinis with Trompe l’oeils hanging behind the bar. The guest tables had a mixture of burgundy and champagne lamour linens with gold chiavari chairs. The hi-boys had champagne lamour linens and were tied with garnet red sashes. We added an additional tent to the side patio for dancing and three south beach tents for guests to relax. The couple had an elegant, southern menu.

Today’s post gives a complete new meaning to “Can’t go over it, can’t go under it, must go through it”. We all know we are huge fans of doing things uniquely, and this bride did just that! Katharine was determined to go over it, and with the help of her family and our floral design team she did!

The family constructed the bridge across the pool, and we decorated it to the max. Along with the bridge floral, the pool was accented with floating flower balls.

Guests were dropped off in the front of the house by shuttle buses, walked through the house to the sun porch and were greeted in the garden by a string quartet, then walked around the pool to be seated. The bride made her grand entrance across the pool to an intimate ceremony.

The moral of the story is never say never, and if you want to do it at you’re wedding we’ll make it happen!

Mary + Mark were featured on Weddings Unveiled Blog and we couldn’t more excited to share it with our readers!

Here’s what they had to say about their wedding…

It was a beautiful day for Mary and Mark’s October nuptials photographed by Melissa Schollaert Photography at The Farmhouse Inn nestled right outside of historic Madison, GA. The event was designed with the natural country setting in mind, working from an inspired palette of powder blue, brilliant white, khaki, golden yellow, muted orange and mossy green accents. Mary wore a beautiful Pronovias strapless gown with gently ruched detailing, while her bridesmaids wore short powder blue dresses with varying necklines to flatter each girl’s figure. The groom and groomsmen wore black suits paired with white button downs and persimmon ties and each wearing a boutonniere of hypericum berries, craspedia and a single muted orange rose on their lapel. A rusted old van set out on the sprawling farm provided a unique backdrop for some wonderful country, vintage inspired portraits of both the bridesmaids and groomsmen before the ceremony. Mason jars with sprigs of mixed white blooms and craspedia hung from shepherds hooks along the outdoor ceremony aisle, which was set on the lawn under a gorgeous old tree. Two little boys carrying a sign reading, “here comes the bride” led the way for Mary’s walk down the aisle carrying a bouquet pale orange roses, craspedia, delicate white blooms and accented with blue thistle.

Set out on a brick patio in the Courtyard Garden, guest enjoyed a cocktail hour of fresh teas and lemonades served out of mason jars. A few cocktail tables were situated around the patio covered with a khaki linen base and set with an embroidered white overlay. The reception was situated in the garden lawn right next to the garden patches where fresh vegetables were being grown. Garden lights hung from the perimeter and provided a festive glow over the intimate dinner space. Round guest tables were set with khaki linens and white overlays which paired nicely with the natural wood chairs. Mason jar centerpieces created by Birch Blooms in the event palette were nestled in moss that adorned the center of the table along with small votive candles. Guests shared their advice and wishes for the happy couple leaving words of encouragement on the couple’s expression tree that stood on an exposed wood table as they entered the reception space. The tree adorned with small little glass bud vases with muted orange and delicate white blooms was filled by the end of the night with marriage advice and dreams for the happy couple. Don’t miss any of the details of the day, including the pretty powder blue ceremony programs bound with twine and the couple’s unique fingerprint family tree guest book. Natalia + Nick got married on June 5, 2010 at the Greystone at Piedmont Park.

The couple greeted guests with a traditional Martha Stewart Station before the wedding. The ceremony was outside on the terrace of the Greystone overlooking the pool. Natalie’s color palette of bright colors and aqua looked amazing! After the intimate ceremony, guests were served mini crab cakes, fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese on toast rounds.

The vintage wedding reception was held inside and decorated with bright, floral tablecloths and arrangements. For more details on their wedding, check out Weddings Unveiled Blog.

Crystal + Bryan got married at the Historic Pace House in Atlanta on October 23, 2010. The décor at this wedding was eclectic and fabulous! Crystal provided us with mason jars and birdcages to hang over the buffet, and our floral department loved every second of hanging them. They passed mini grilled cheese and tomato bisque, which sounds amazing right now! Their buffet had pork tenderloin, beef brisket, baked wild mushroom tortelloni with truffle cream sauce, moser salad, rosti potatoes, roasted red beet salad, tomato bread pudding, broccoli salad, melons and berries, and cheese biscuits.
