I was watching Four Weddings on TLC the other night, and one girl had a black tie wedding on the beach. You’re probably thinking, “Oh wow that sounds nice!”; It was nice aside from the fact that the women guests were wearing high heels in the sand and sunk clear to the soles of their feet! Needless to say, this isn’t exactly comfortable for your guests…

How would one solve this problem? Offer your guests flip flops in various sizes, you can even have them coordinate with your wedding colors or just do a basic black. Flip flops can be presented before the ceremony if it is a beach wedding, or more appropriately at the reception once the dancing begins, and coincidentally the blisters do too.

There are several cute and fairly inexpensive ways to present the flip flop baskets.

This is way too cute and would have been perfect on 4 weddings! (Photo from Events by Monroe)

Apryl and Stan got married September 25, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church and hosted their reception at the State Botanical Gardens’ Conservatory. The Conservatory was decorated in champagne with burgundy accents, with lanterns hanging throughout the reception. The couple chose an ice bar with a drink luge serving white cosmopolitans, down and dirty martinis and extra dry martinis with Trompe l’oeils hanging behind the bar. The guest tables had a mixture of burgundy and champagne lamour linens with gold chiavari chairs. The hi-boys had champagne lamour linens and were tied with garnet red sashes. We added an additional tent to the side patio for dancing and three south beach tents for guests to relax. The couple had an elegant, southern menu.

The Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina has several different locations on the property to host your upcoming event, the Carriage House, the Conservatory, the Veranda and the gardens. One of our favorites is the Carriage House.

The inside can be decorated with many different color palettes, and you can also have a tent on the side for added space.

This decor is from one an engagement party at the plantation.

“The Carriage House (c.1840) overlooking the Ashley River is completely surrounded by ancient Live Oaks with beautifully draped Spanish Moss. Today, the updated building brilliantly dances the fine line between timeless charm and modern amenities.

At night, burning torches line the bank of the river while the patio fireplace sets a festive mood. Inside, the wagon wheel chandeliers hanging from exposed beams set the ambiance with a gentle glow.

The Carriage House can accommodate 150 guests seated with dancing and up to 200-250 guests with buffet or hors d’oeuvres arrangements. Tents on the patio or open lawn can also be added to accommodate many additional guests.

The Carriage House Lawn sits on the bank of the river, providing stunning views and fantastic breezes from the waterway. Accommodating 400+ seated guests, the lawn boasts two picturesque possibilities for a ceremony site: under an arbor of gracefully arching oak trees or on a deck nestled on the banks of the Ashley. (Magnolia Plantation Website)”

Pricing for the Carriage House runs from $1,000 – $5,000 depending on the time of your event.

Today’s post gives a complete new meaning to “Can’t go over it, can’t go under it, must go through it”. We all know we are huge fans of doing things uniquely, and this bride did just that! Katharine was determined to go over it, and with the help of her family and our floral design team she did!

The family constructed the bridge across the pool, and we decorated it to the max. Along with the bridge floral, the pool was accented with floating flower balls.

Guests were dropped off in the front of the house by shuttle buses, walked through the house to the sun porch and were greeted in the garden by a string quartet, then walked around the pool to be seated. The bride made her grand entrance across the pool to an intimate ceremony.

The moral of the story is never say never, and if you want to do it at you’re wedding we’ll make it happen!
