The weekend will start off on Friday with a VIP reception at the Foundry Inn & Spa, with featured chefs presenting an in house Amuse-Bouche, samples of their cooking artistry, and—of course— samples of wine to accompany it all!

Athens Wine Weekend Classic Center

On Saturday, the Grand Tasting begins with hundreds of wines from around the world to sample!  United Distributors, Northeast Sales, Kermit Lynch, Quality Wine and Spirits, plus several Northeast Georgia wineries are just a few of this year’s distributors.  Throughout the day, a wide range of seminars and informational sessions will be presented by a bevy of international wine experts including Michael Venezia, Jaamy Zarnegar, Master Sommelier Michael McNeill, Steve Waters, Frank Sinkwich, Carolyn and Randall Abney, and Nancy Palmer. To conclude a busy Saturday, a gourmet dinner, prepared and served by Epting Events’ own Center Stage Catering, will be served alongside wines selectively chosen for each course.  The six-course feast features local fare, with the main course of Smoked Duck Breast over a Duck Confit with Savannah Red Rice.

As all of these Saturday events unfold, a silent auction will be held to further support and benefit The Classic Center Cultural Foundation.

Located just outside Athens, GA, Historic Smithonia Farm provides a secluded  feel without having to venture far from the city.  Built in the late 1800s by Col. James Monroe Smith as an agricultural and manufacturing masterpiece, the Farm was reopened in 2001 as Tucker Plantation, and quickly became one of Georgia’s most sought-after event spaces. With new management (Pam NeSmith – former Bottleworks owner) and a new name (Historic Smithonia Farm), this historic location is re-opening its doors with the juxtaposition of rustic and modern motifs creating a bride-to-be’s dream venue.

One of the greatest features of this historic venue is its versatility.  It has several charming event spaces for both formal and casual gatherings.  The layout of the Farm provides easy access between sites, and gives clients many options when planning their event setting. The natural landscape and deconstructed agrarian buildings provide the perfect backdrop for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and/or receptions.

The property’s three immense yet elegant brick barns create a shabby chic theme with heart of pine floors, elevated dome ceilings, exposed original wood beams, and wrought iron chandeliers. Aside from their versatile facilities, Historic Smithonia Farm features beautiful lakes, pastures, and 200 year-old oak trees perfect for unforgettable ceremony settings.

On January 19th the Georgia Museum of Art will be transformed into an incredible display of monochromatic splendor. From the walls and the table settings, to the food and decor, the vibrant Museum will revert into a chic canvas devoid of all color.

The serene museum space is primed for transformation.

The serene museum is primed for transformation.

Epting Events is assisting in the coordination of the Georgia Museum of Art’s Elegant Salute party, and time to ensure your attendance is running out! The biennial soirée is one of the University of Georgia’s most important (and lavish) fundraisers, with proceeds directly benefiting the Museum. This year’s theme is that of a classic Black and White formal event (with a surprising twist).

Aside from the incredibly unique atmosphere, your ticket will provide you with an exquisite 3-course served meal (with a vegetarian option) provided by Epting Events. Incorporating the party’s black and white theme, each course will be presented lacking color, but exploding with flavor. Following a fresh winter salad, the main course centers around a filet paired with unique, yet delicious, black and white vegetables. Dessert will be a one-of-a-kind white chocolate crème brûlée accentuated by flavored balsamic vinegar and black lava sea salt coupled with an almond shortbread.

Then, as dinner is finishing, a surprise will unfold, and a striking field of color will be revealed! Suddenly, the once subdued space will transform into full-spectrum celebration! An elaborate light show, along with a whimsical candy station and a far-out dance floor, will take over the unmarked space. With the Krush Girls DJ-ing into the night, this evening will be one you (and the GMOA janitorial staff) will soon not forget!
